About Fused Glass: Fused glass is formed by melting various pieces of glass together in a kiln at temperatures ranging from 1,200 to 1,500 degrees. My process involves firing and grinding each piece a number of times. The luminescent quality is produced primarily through the use of dichroic glass, which is coated with crystalline layers of metallic oxides such as titanium, silicon and magnesium. These coatings act as prisms, separating light into a variety of color spectrums.
